Welcome to our new course; "America's War in Vietnam." I'm excited to be teaching this course and know that students will find it quite interesting. This course will take a comprehensive look at the American War in Vietnam, beginning with ancient invasions, through the French occupation, the war itself, the aftermath, and then analyze the modern-day implications of the war.
Supplementary Texts: "The Things They Carried" by Tim O'Brien. (we'll be borrowing copies from the English Department for free!)
Supplementary Film: "Born on the Fourth of July" (students MUST have parental consent forms signed to view film).
Course Information: "America's War in Vietnam" is a full year, 1.0 credit course which is applied to the history local graduation requirement.
Grading Policy: Student grades are broken down in the following manner. Participation - 20%, Homework - 20%, Quizzes - 10%, Tests 25%, Class Assignments - 25%.
Attendance Policy: Consistent with the expectations outlined in Salem High School's student handbook.
