Vietnam Course Overview

Welcome to our new course; "America's War in Vietnam."  I'm excited to be teaching this course and know that students will find it quite interesting.  This course will take a comprehensive look at the American War in Vietnam, beginning with ancient invasions, through the French occupation, the war itself, the aftermath, and then analyze the modern-day implications of the war.

Supplementary Texts"The Things They Carried" by Tim O'Brien. (we'll be borrowing copies from the English Department for free!)

Supplementary Film"Born on the Fourth of July" (students MUST have parental consent forms signed to view film).

Course Information"America's War in Vietnam" is a full year, 1.0 credit course which is applied to the history local graduation requirement.

Grading Policy:  Student grades are broken down in the following manner.  Participation - 20%, Homework - 20%, Quizzes - 10%, Tests 25%, Class Assignments - 25%.

Attendance Policy:  Consistent with the expectations outlined in Salem High School's student handbook.
